Advantages: i made a profit of £40 by selling it, it was packed with features for a car of its age, it had ride height adjustment

Disadvantages: It feels and handles like a boat, it rusts very quickly, very easily accessed

I was given a BX 1.6RE '88 from my Grans boyfriend and I was mad enough to take it. It felt as if you were driving a boat and if you become sea sick on a ship I'd like to warn you DO NOT drive the BX it will be hazardous to your health.

On the good side though it had some features the some modern cars don't such as central locking, and front electric windows, which was very suprising for a car of its age.

My younger brother, 13 was in the car more than me as he unlocked the door without the keys and got into it (without doing any damage to it and he isn't a car thief) and considered it as a big massive toy then the battery was removed in case he started the engine which brings me on to another point i have never such a noisy engine in my life it clicked, rattled, and produced other wierd noises.

The front brakes were hydraulic and therefore if the engine broke down whilst you were moving you had a serious problem because you have to use the hand brake which would create even more problems if not used carefully as the wheels could lock and that could be very dangerous

I had advertised it for £150 for 3 month but nothing then I advertised it on Ebay for £100 and still nothing then a few months later a man who I knew but never liked, came to my house and I was shocked then he came round the following day and bought it for £40.

Most cars these days have hydraulic brakes! The Citroen's are like many other cars servo-assisted. Once the engine is switched off and the the residual power is utilised one has to use hard brake pressure. The brakes however still work.

The ride will be affected on the Citroen if the hydraulic system is not properly maintained.

I ran one for 10,000 miles - the funny noises are the hydraulics. There's something called an accumulator which keeps the pressure if the engine stops, so you could brake (I know - mine broke... listen for a ticking noise every few seconds) Rode like a magic carpet - not a boat. I miss it.
