Advantages: Very quick, roomy, easy to drive, allergic to fuel stops, comfortable, cheap to run
Disadvantages: pedals set too high up in footwell
I bought my little C3 1.4SX when it was 4 years old as a replacement for my Honda Civic coupe which was far too big and thirsty for my needs. Being used to Honda build quality and reliability I was expecting great things. I opted for C3 because they are so cute and funky looking, plus I have always liked Citroens.
A Citroen is no different from any other French car...you either get a good one or a bad one. When it's good, it's very good...when it's bad, it's a disaster. It seems that I have bought a very VERY good one. I have had the car for about 5 months now and am absolutely delighted with it.
OK, the interior is more solid and plasticky than the soft touch surfaces offered by my Honda, but this means it should be more hard wearing. The buttons are large and chunky and everything within reach. Dials and instruments are all very space-age and easy to read. Amusing little beeps and gongs which can get a little irritating after a while. I have heard all about C3's having all manner of problems. As mine is 4 years old and was one of the first sold, any teething troubles it might have had will have been ironed away.
My C3 is incredibly easy to drive, light power steering, a very perky engine, all manner of gadgets to keep me amused and a great sound system too. The car is also a very relaxing place to be. Squishy soft velour chairs, arm rests on the front seats, soft suspension, and a light and snappy gearchange. The engine is whisper quiet and sings sweetly when at high revs and pulls like a wee train! It doesn't sound strained at speed either, my mum drives a Picasso which sometimes sounds strained. The boot is deep and roomy...that moduboard is such a clever piece of kit too. The car is also extremely economical. Sips fuel like your granny sips her sherry.
Summary: Absolutely fantastic little car! I want a C3 VTR next.
