Sorry Citroen -- you scewed up with the C3
Author Name: Matt
Advantages: The exhaust system seem robust enough
Disadvantages: ....everything else has the fragility of an easter egg
Had a C3 now for 6 years and time to get rid! To be fair, the thing has never failed to start - even when my battery was on the way out in the really cold depths of this winter. I'll give you a quick synopsis on my experience. Yes, a cheap car to buy and run - but very poorly made. First thing to stop working was the horn (covered under warranty) and o/s drop-link (again warranty) at 2 years old. Needed new pads and discs after 20,000 miles, new front coil springs at 35,000, the number 4 injector gave up the ghost at about the same time (Citroen garage said common fault), o/s droplink went again last year! - seriously, the suspension is made of glass on these things. Finally, this year the gearbox is grinding and whirring. Probably the only thing I'm surprised about is that the exhaust system has lasted from new without replacement!. To be honest, if you are considering one of these used - DONT - get yourself a Hyundai or a Kia - something cheap with a decent warranty. I'm afraid Citroen, this will be the last of your cars I'll ever buy - and I've had a 2CV too - and that was never as much trouble! (Oh, and the interior trim is made of the same plastic they make the inside of Kinder eggs from too and rattles and pops off every couple of hundred miles) Hey ho, you live and learn though!
Summary: Dont buy one!
