The best in its class, especially given the price.

Advantages: Fuel consumption, Styling, Overall performance.
Disadvantages: cheaper materials under the bonnet - long term durability is questionable
Having driven the C3 extensively on a long holiday to Spain a few weeks ago and covered some 2,000 miles in the process, I feel that I have learnt a thing or two about it.
The first thing that stands out with this car is its sleek design. The looks from the outside, the interior build, quality of the central console & the general feel when you're driving it surpassed my pre-emptive opinions. Materials used and the amount of thought put into the fine details made each trip comfortable and relaxing. Despite having a relatively basic model, the climate control worked well and had a broad range of settings. The stereo system was easy to navigate and easily adjustable as we kept having to change frequencies to listen to a transmission of our iPod.
The second thing you notice with this car is the way it drives. For a small car of its class, the engine size and the characteristics, you'd be excused for tensing your back as you attempt to mount a hill. On the contrary, the car had plenty of torque across the full engine range. We were pleasantly surprised by its pace on the long motorway journeys and even more surprised when as the C3 went up and down mountains with the ease of a mountain goat.
The most striking quality of all was the fuel efficiency. This aspect of the car you naturally notice last, the time you actually have to fill up. Not that you'd have to do so particularly often as over the course of our mixed 2,000 journey we had to fill up twice and that included the petrol station visit just before handing the car. Coupled with the fact that the fuel tank is considerably smaller than the Nissan 350z I have at home, I was pleasantly surprised to not have to part with a larger amount of cash given the amount of spritied motorway, city & mountain driving we did.
Overall, driving this car was an extremely positive experience. Its handling, styling and the nippy engine all surpassed our expectations. I'd have to say that having driven a number of different cars of that class on European holidays, this has to be the winner in almost every single category in my eyes. If I was looking for a cheap run around with decent luggage space (easily fits two suitcases + rucksacks + other small items) and the ability to fit 2/3 adults in the back of the car without folding them in half, this has to be the solution. With the price remaining extremely competitive, I feel that this car is a definite winner!
Summary: If you're looking for a small run around that fits 5 adults + a couple suitcases, buy a C3!
