Much Better than a Ford KA
Member Name: ReviewMe
Advantages: Digital Speedometer and Automatic Windcreen Wipers
Disadvantages: Does not like the wind and steering wheel is sensitive to pot holes
This is my second car and most of my comparisons will be made against my first car, a Ford Ka. I use my car for personal travel and to get me to and from work, and have clocked about 1500 miles in the three months that I have owned the car. The model that I have is a Citroen C3 SX 1.4L in silver.
I have liked the Citroen cars for a few years now, in particular the C2 and C3 models. They have a lovely round shape, quite spacious yet still small enough for city driving / parking. Mine is a lovely silver colour, but I also quite like the blue model.
My Citroen is an SX model, which stands for Sport Crossover. I am not sure whether it is due to the sportish element or not but the steering is quite sensitive. It handles well and I have had no problem with taking turn in it. The only problem is with potholes, the steering wheel wobbles unnervingly if your tyres dip into a pothole. I have heard a lot of people say this about many other cars, so maybe my Ford Ka was just insensitive.
Especially with the rocketing price of petrol, when looking for a new car the economy of the car was something that I was interested in. I did not want to sacrifice power, spend a fortune or sacrifice appearance for it though. This car is quite fuel efficiency offering an average of 46mpg varying slightly with different factors including driving style. At the moment, it costs £40 for a full tank, sadly this is constantly rising.
The main thing that sets this car apart from my Ford Ka is all the mod cons that this car has to offer. It is a 04 reg so not one of the more modern models, but still a lovely modern drive. My favourite feature is the digital speedometer, which makes sticking to the speed limit in speed camera district much easier. My second favourite feature is the automatic window wipers. My Ford Ka had three settings: once every few minutes, fast or super fast, awful if the rain was quite light. However the horn is pretty insensitive, to the point that I thought it did not work but my boyfriend managed to make it beep after pressing it pretty firmly.
VALUE FOR MONEY
I think that this car is great value for money, I paid £3745 for a 04 reg with 17,000 miles on the clock. The insurance is not too expensive, it only cost me £77 more to unsure than a Ford Ka 1.3 basic model, sadly being a young driver my insurance is still a shocking £1000. The car tax is £125 for the year, which is £25 cheaper than my previous car.
It does get caught quite easily by the wind on the motorway so I do try and avoid driving on windy days. I am not sure if it is something to do with the shape of the car? Also, when you go over 40/50mph then there is a wind noise even if it is not particularly windy out, therefore I am assuming there is a draft coming in somewhere, slightly annoying.
Summary: 04 Reg C3 beat a 52 Reg Ford Ka hands down.
