Advantages: Value for money, Lovely engine, 76 mpg!!
Having looked around in detail at all the cars in this class, including the Fiesta 1.4 diesel and the Nissan Micra 1.5 Diesel, we chose the 1.4 Diesel Desire at a price of £9,285 OTR inc aircon, cd player and spots. Offer at the moment is a VAT free, get it while you can!
Main reasons for the choice were the incredibly torquey engine, it drives better than the 1.4 petrol, and its the same engine as the Fiesta but £1400 cheaper for the equivalent model. Also the Fiesta seems more dated and plain than the C3 which is undeniably distinctive.
Service interval of 12500 miles for the C3 diesel and an average service cost of £115. Combined wth the MPG of 76 on a run its a good choice for high mileage users such as myself. Also the Diesel seemed to hug the road better, maybe because its heavier than its petrol counerpart. Colour choice is good, we chose a deep metallic blue with the light blue interior, much plusher than the Ford.
All in all a fun car to drive with distinctive looks, the Fiesta ran close 2nd after a test drive but the difference in price as well as a pushy Ford salesman made us choose the C3 in preference, it really is a lovely car and excellent value for money.
