A good car, in a market of many good cars (Citroën C4)

Advantages: Nice looking; drives smoothly

Disadvantages: Busy in the dashboard and wheel area - can be confusing and distracting

I've just begun driving this car so this review is based on first impressions - not so useful it could be argued, but I beg to differ, as first impressions tend to notice those little niggles that we later come to (grudgingly!) accept...and likewise the nifty features that we later come to take for granted.

First things first: the car looks good, with sleek curves and a good choice of proportions. Inside it is spacious and smartly finished, although the interior, whilst smart and tidy, isn't particularly memorable.

The drive is commendable - I tried taking this around a mini "slalom" course of traffic cones and the handling around tight corners is good, the car feeling substantially lighter than it is. When on straights the car handles smoothly and moves confidently.

For the negatives, I would say that there is a little bit too much going on around the steering wheel and dash area for my liking. There are a lot of buttons and dials to get to grips with and it is easy to engage one quite by accident.

As a further comment, whilst I've no real major gripes about this car, I can't help finding it a little bit, well, boring - it does everything well, but nothing extraordinarily. If you drive for pleasure as much as necessity, this car would probably not tick all of the boxes for you.

Summary: Nice car, nice drive...but no real differentiation from many tens of similar cars
