Advantages: Power, lightweight, corners like a dream

Disadvantages: Insurance, Front wheel drive (if you prefer going sideways ! )

I love this car, with 120bhp (22mph more than the newer VTR;s) you wouldn't think it would be too much faster or worthwhile buying, but believe me IT IS!

The only other car i had before my VTS is, yes, you guessed it, a VTR! As soon as i drove a VTS, i had to buy it because it was just such a power difference. Some specifications are below of the two cars.

1.6 (1587 cc) VTR - SOHC (Single overhead camshaft) 8 valve - 90 bhp - 0-60 in 9.3 seconds - top speed = 116 mph (Phase II VTR models are 98 bhp!)
Insurance group 7

1.6 (1587 cc) VTS - DOHC (Double overhead camshaft) 16 valve - 120 bhp - 0-60 in 7.2 seconds - top speed = 127 mph
Insurance group 14

While purchasing the car at the dealership, i was displeased as the man selling me the car was rather rude etc because he thought the car was too fast/expensive for a 19 year old (im 20 now) to buy, so i wasn't too pleased with that.

The VTS does drink a hell of a lot of petrol (a lot more than the VTR, but its worth it if you can afford to fill up every 10mins!) Although the suspension is firm and very eager steering, it is great fun to drive, every time I do take it out for a blast I have a big grin plastered on my face!

Comfort-wise i am pleased as i only mainly do short journeys (never more than an hour or so in the car at one time) I have driven to a LAN event before which was about 3-4 hours away, and i could not wait to get there as the seats are quite firm, almost bucket seat like, that they got quite uncomfortable. Another disadvantage is the foot pedals as they are so close together i often press down the accelerator while my foot is on the brake! (Size 11 shoes)

So basically, if you can afford the group 14 insurance and the amount of petrol it drinks, this is a fantastic car, overtaking a car on a dual carriageway/motorway, is a piece of cake and the engine revving up sounds so sexy! I've noticed a get a few looks from people too as you don't really see many VTS's around here, only VTR's or lower spec versions

Summary: Powerful, lightweight, corners like its on rails

Hi and welcome to dooyoo. We could have done with a tad more information ; controls, drive feel, passenger comfort, boot space etc. I do hope you have a read around and enjoy the site.
