I recently purchased a second hand Xantia 2 litre 16 valve estate. So far ( 6 months ) I have been very pleased with its overall performance and reliabilty. It is a lovely car to drive, very smooth and responsive. Also very predictable. The clutch and gearbox are smooth and the engine powerful, capable of cruising on the autobahn at 90 all day. At speed it feels solid and safe, the wind hardly effects it and the steering remains rock solid. Inside the car there is loads of space, the estate has more room with the seats folded forward, than any other car in its class. There are lots of luxury refinements, such as, power steering, electric windows, sunroof & mirrors all as standard. Also a very effective ventilation system. The radio cassette is superb. I particularly like the adjustabilty of the front seats, they adjust for height, front, back and lumbar. The suspension deserves special praise, Hydroelastic Self - levelling. Absolutely first class. Like driving an armchair. One final thought, its a thirsty car, returning around 35 M.P.G. Not good when your paying £3.70 per gallon these days. I would definately buy another one if given the choice in future. Of more than twenty years of driving this is by far the best car I have driven.
