Advantages: Many extras, Three year free servicing, Hassle free policy
Disadvantages: Very high depreciation
When I first purchased a daewoo nexia in 1996, i thought to myself...'Should i risk buying a car from a manufacturer thats just entered the market. The nexia GLXi was priced at just over £10,000. A bit pricy? maybe. However, this was a car that had the following:
- Twin air-bags as standard
- Twin-cam 16-valve engine
- Air conditioning as standard
- ABS
- Front and Rear electric windows
- Engine immobiliser
- Five spoke alloys
- Metallic paint
I thought to myself, you would not get half of these things in a prestige car as standard. On top of that what sold the car for me was, Three year free servicing, three year free AA membership and three years parts guarantee. Hence, i bought the car.
Since i've had the nexia i've never had a problem. Everytime there is the slightest glitch in anything i take the car straight to daewoo and they sort out the problem for me. Even if a tape gets stuck in the deck! The drive is comfortable and the car is nippy due to the twin-cam engine.
so i enjoyed three years of driving a hassle free car.
However, after the three years i came to the point where i wanted a change and so i decided to sell the nexia. To my amazement, the going price was just a shade over £2,500. The depreciation was unbeleivably high. The main reason for this being the fact that the three year hassle free guarantee was over. So i decided to keep it. Would i buy another Daewoo? For the hassle free policy maybe, for the loss mof money over the three years...I doubt it.
