Advantages: So much space! Great window safety features, Air Con
Disadvantages: A little fuel hungry, no rear wiper
I bought my W reg Daewo Nubira 3 years ago for £2000 as a second hand car with one previous careful owner after my Ford Escort was written off by a lorry!
I had recently just had another baby and needed a car that could fit 2 baby seats in as well as a growing 9 year old in the back seats and this car was just the ticket! The 2 car seats fitted perfectly and my older child still had plenty of room in the middle.
The boot was also a big factor in buying this car as it was massive, far bigger boot than any of my other cars had and was easily able to fit in a double pushchair in the back along with plenty of shopping!
I also found useful was the locking windows for the front and back doors, as my smaller children have got older and more inquisitive and press all buttons around them, I am able to lock the windows on the driver seat door so they cannot open them on their own. The drivers door also has controls to open all windows at the touch of a button. The drivers seat also moves higher and lower as well as backwards and forwards and you can get your perfect position as the steering wheel also moves up and down! There is also an arm rest in the middle rear seat area which can be pulled down when required.
The side mirrors are also electric and can be controlled on the drivers side door and they can also be heated, enabling quick defrosting in the winter months. The air con is also great in the summer months, keeping everyone cool inside.
There are also lots of little compartments to keep things in as well as 2 drinks holders which pop out from just under the cassette radio. The glove compartment is lockable and there is also a cigarette lighter and ashtray just in front of the gears. The boot and petrol cap can also be opened from the inside, which is also good as the petrol cap cannot be opened by petrol thieves that may be patrolling the area.
The car itself drives smoothly and has good accelaration. My old escort would have no pull if going uphill and would be overtaken by lorries all the time but the nubira doesn't stop pulling at all which I find very useful in some situations! The 6 gears are smooth and the steering is good too with no shaking of the wheel when doing excess of 70mph.
There are only 2 things that disappoint me about the Nubira - to me it doesn't seem very efficient in the fuel department, I know when I get to around 320 miles on the clock I have to refuel, although I have found that is when I have had the car full of passengers and sometimes with an empty (passenger wise) car I have managed to squeeze an extra 50 miles out of it when it's had it's fuel light on!
The other thing that disappoints me is there is no rear wiper and with the back end been quite high up, it's not very easy to see out of unless you use the rear window heater to dry the rain off while reversing.
All in all, this is the best car I have ever bought, it's just a shame I blew up the engine yesterday after running out of oil! RIP my lovely Nubira!
Summary: great family car, would buy again!
