I'm just done writing an opinion about Mini's, and I thought to go for the complete opposite, I'd write one about the Fourtrack I've been driving for the past couple of months.

Now, I don't know if this is an extra option thing that was stuck on before I started driving it, but the Fourtrack IS a 4x4. It's not one of these "Honest, I'm a 4x4, but I just get driven by 40 year old female yuppy wannabe's" The one I'm driving it set up to be used off road. Huge tyres, winch at the front, ratio control next to the gear shift (which is set up nice and high) little thing on the dash to tell me what angle I'm at, and the rest is pretty basic.

As I said, I'm just done writing about Mini's. When I was done with the Mini, I always promised myself I'd get a jeep at one point in my life to have the other point of view - and you get it with this Fourtrack - it's HUGE!! I love being above everyone else, I love having to step up into a car, I basicalyl just love the superiority thing about being so high (which I guess is why everyone is buying Jeeps right now).

Ok, the engine is loud, you only get about 20-25 MPG, the gear shift is about as smooth as Don Johnsons face during Miami Vice, and overall, it's a bit clunky - but that really doesn't matter.

It's a lot of fun to drive. The one thing I have noticed about it though is that I have a tendency to lose it a bit on corners, if I take them too fast. Now, either I'm unlucky, and not noticing that this happens (three times so far) when I hit either leaves, ice, or just wet greasy patches of road, but it's something to worry about.

I have taken it offroad a couple of times, and it really excells there. Stick it in either of the 4x4 ratios, and it just clamps itself to the surface you're on and takes you where you point it.

The one thing I don't like at all about the model I'm driving
is that it's one with a closed off rear - I.e. no back windows, so though the wing-mirrors are big enough to probably catch the blind spots, I'm always a bit cautious when moving lanes etc. Plus, the one I've got has a tinted rear window - making it really hard to see out of.

Apart from that though, it's just a really fun thing to drive, I like being above people, my girlfriend seems to like it, and I get a crap load more respect than I did when I was in the Mini!
