Advantages: Looks smart, easy to drive, mod cons, cheap to buy and run

Disadvantages: Gear box sticks, large hand brake, rattles a lot

My very first car was a Fiat Seciento Sporting T reg, I got it when I was learning to drive and couldn't recommend it more.

Mine was a dark silver with orange detailing. Inside it was quite high spec, with really nice seats, sun roof and electric windows. It did not have power steering, it was brought in the following year.

I had this car for a year and traded it in as a deposit against a brand new car.

Advantages:
- Easy to drive especially for a learner
- Decent size inside despite being a small car
- Can fit in lots of parking spaces
- Good to do manouvers in because of its size
- Comfortable to drive
- Electric windows
- Sun roof
- Smart looking exterior
- Decent sized boot

Disadvantages:
- Gear box can stick in lower gears
- Hand brake is quite big and prominent
- Not good on bumps
- Rattle quite a bit
- Pedals very close together
- Slow to get going
- Doesn't cope well on motorway

Although it does have some drawbacks, this car is the ideal first car, especially if you are learning.

It's cheap to buy and run, runs well, and isn't just a basic car.

Summary: An ideal first car or for a learner, mine served me well!

Only thing against it really is that it's hardly any cheaper than, say, a Fiat Punto, which is much more versatile. If I remember correctly they are made in Poland and not Italy.

Oh, I should also had that when it starts up, it makes a strange "weee" noise (!) for a few minutes. I have heard this from many other owners too.

All Fiats rattle - that's their charm (or so I have been told). Nice review.
