And so it was that my lifestyle needs changed, and with the family on the verge of expanding it was necessary to get rid of my 3 door Renault Clio for something a bit bigger. I wasn?t actually planning to change car quite so soon but it all happened by accident during a visit to Fords of Winsford, a car supermarket in Cheshire. Whilst looking for a Fiat Seicento for my girlfriend we stumbled across a Fiat Stilo with £4999 on the windscreen. My initial thought was that this seemed too good to be true ? surely they?d made a mistake on the price! It was an ?02? reg in immaculate condition, a little over two years old with 19,000 miles on the clock. The reason for ... Read the complete review

I liked the looks of the Stilo from the first minute I saw it so now that I am looking round for a car I just had to drive one. Unfortunately the looks are the best thing about the car and I felt let down. I initially phoned up to drive a 1.6 Dynamic 3 door, however this was locked up in the compound and the saleswoman that I dealt with couldn't find anyone with the keys to get the car out for me. I ended up driving the 1.8 Dynamic which apart from the engine and ESP (Electronic Stability Programme) has the same equipment as the 1.6. The test drive didn't get off to a good start with the car being extremely messy inside (although I did ... Read the complete review

When bought from new, this car promised much. My wife bought a 1.6 Stilo Dynamic. Packed with features that were more than she wanted at the time, we had a car that on paper at least rivaled the Golf, nay bettered the Golf for room, versatility and equipment levels. The first 18 months or so were relatively trouble free. The engine was responsive, a good workhorse that would sit on the motorway all day. Then the problems started, and from then onwards, things just went from bad to worse. All four engine coils had to be replaced. Various sensors failed and had to be replaced - not cheap either! And the one fault that seems to be reported just about ... Read the complete review

I recently stubled across the reviews of the Stilo after placing my order for one at the dealership. Imagine my thoughts as I read quite a few reviews that criticised the car! Anyway, I decided to proceed with my order for a 1.2 Active Aircon 5 door model, which would take about 6 weeks for delivery from order. In reality, I think I had timed my order luckily, as it was at the dealership and on the road inside 3 weeks. Nice result! Firstly, I have to say (regarding the negative reviews) that Fiat, like all other car manufacturers, ship an enormous number of cars from the factory and onto the roads. If you look at things realistically, the number of ... Read the complete review

I took delivery of my Stilo on September 2nd. I originally approached my local Fiat dealer intending to purchase the 3-door 1.2 Active priced at a bargain £8995 plus another £120 for the CD player upgrade, and took one for a test drive. I was absolutely smitten with the car; the 3-door model is nothing short of stunning in its looks, drives beautifully and, whilst not being the fastest car on the road, is more than adequately powered with the economical 1.2 16v engine under the bonnet. This is coupled to a six-speed gearbox which does take a little getting used to but it does help a small engine drive a medium-sized car. My association with the Fiat dealer ended ...
