Advantages: Great value, wonderful mpg, loads of space
Disadvantages: Aircon would be nice on this model, only tape player as part of stereo.
Q. What makes the Stilo an attractive car to buy? A. It's great value. On the look out for a 2nd-hand largeish 5 door diesel with low miles i test drove them all - Focus, Corrolla, Golf etc. Then it came to the Stilo.
My 1.9 JTD 80 bhp Active on the 53 plate with 18K miles on the clock cost me only 3725 from a local auction. Any of the other alternatives add (at least) an extra £2k to the price.
There's no denying that the build quality is marginally less, and the driving 'experience' isn't exactly thrilling - but take a look as to why your considering this car in the first place.
You have kids, you have older parents, you have more stuff - in short you want a bigger small car that's easier on the pocket - thus the Stilo.
As for 'toys' the trip computer is handy, as is the 'ice warning', temp gauge and mpg readout. As has been said before the seats are wonderfully comfortable, and the Stilo makes a motorway jounrey fly by.
Add to this legroom, good boot space, driver visabilty and you've got a bit of a winner.
I'd add to the complaints about the lack of a left leg rest, but my calf muscles have improved as a result!
I was going to say 'don't believe the hype and try a Stilo' but that would let the secret out. It's thanks to the numerous bad reviews that depreciation has been massive, allowing 2nd hand buyers like me to pick up a bargain.
So for once take advantage of the hype, so yourself a favour and try it out.
As for buying at auction....more tips elsewhere!
