I until recently was a huge fan of fiat cars in general my first car was a fiat brava and it was absolutly great always sailed through mot and any problems were minor and cheap to fix so when i decided i fancied a change i opted for a fiat stilo active and then began the endless problems wheel bushells and trailing arms ,starter motor ...  Read the complete review

Great value and cheap to run! (470 words)

I bought my Fiat Stilo on the 1st March. I had previously owned two Vauxhall Astra's the most recent being a sporty 2 litre turbo. As running costs were taking a huge chunk of my pay each month I decided to look for something that was cheaper to run. I didn't have a particular car in mind I simply looked on autotrader for a ...  Read the complete review

Express Review on Fiat Stilo
by - written on 02/06/10

I bought a Fiat Stilo 1.6 5 door 51 plate last week. I bought it in haste and I'm starting to repent (hardly at leisure) already. It has been back to the garage I bought it from already with an airbag failure warning light and accompanying computer message, an aircon that doesn't work and squeaky brakes. It's going back in next Monday for some of those things to get sorted cos they couldn't sort it this week. I also found out from the Fiat garage that it's not too good at mpg either! Now I've been surfing on the net for 2 days and read so many bad things about it (apart from the odd person who obviously got lucky) that I'm seriously thinking of going back to the garage and beg an exchange. What to do??

I upgraded my Seicento for a fiat stilo about 3 years ago, and I loved it. I chose to sell it to use the money towards my wedding, but I still miss it sometimes, and I now drive my husbands Mitsubishi L200 - a tad different to the seicento I started with. I had the 3 door, diesel engine 1.6 version of the Stilo, with leather ...  Read the complete review

Fiat Stilo: nice car- shame about the badge (220 words)
by - written on 12/03/10 (Useful, 3281 readings)
Rating:

I have owned a 2002 Fiat Stilo 1.2 since 2004, and in that time I have found it to be an interesting car to own- it does have faults though. As a fiat owner the worst thing about the car is the badge, and everything that goes along with that- usually terrible reliability and even worse jokes. The main fault with the stilo is the ...  Read the complete review

1.4 5 Door 16v 04 plate - Went for the something different card and came out with something different that burned a hole in the bank. The car seem great to start with, no problems to start with, not much of an engine for the size of car but drove smoothly, with a nice 6 speed gear change. Driven economically could get 50 mpg but still ...  Read the complete review

Right, first of all I love my stilos. However, our romance has taken a rocky road at times! In 2004 I sold my Fiat Bravo and bought a brand new 2004 Fiat Stilo Active. I collected the car from Ron Skinners in South Wales and was over the moon. I set off from Skinners to my home and after about 40 miles I had the "engine check" ...  Read the complete review

When bought from new, this car promised much. My wife bought a 1.6 Stilo Dynamic. Packed with features that were more than she wanted at the time, we had a car that on paper at least rivaled the Golf, nay bettered the Golf for room, versatility and equipment levels. The first 18 months or so were relatively trouble free. ...  Read the complete review

Express Review on Fiat Stilo

I purchased my Fiat Stilo estate 18 months ago. I have covered 40k miles since. The engine has proved economical and seemingly bullet proof. I wish I could say the same for the rest of the car. I have had numerous electrical niggles which bring a knowing nod from the mechanic, wheel bearings (2) rear suspension problems (heavy clunking sound = £250, seat belt problems, air bag problems.. need I go on? I will have to get shot of it, which is a shame as I had been led to believe that Fiats reputation for unreliability was a thing of the past. If only it was!! (PS I am a mature driver who drives mainly motorway miles)

STILO Decent car. Proved very reliable. Good fuel consuption 1.2. Nice interior, but lacks good space, for carrying mountain bike etc. FAULTS- yes you do get warning lights for faults that dont exist, but they go out if the problem is only dampness in the electrics, but will stay on, as they should, if there is ...  Read the complete review

I have owneD a Fiat Stilo 1.6 16v for around 5 months and can't say im happy with it.My car is a 2002 model with only 42,000 miles on the clock!!!!!!!!! constant problems with engine management lights on dash, ASR warning light, number plate bulb warning light, air bag warning light. paint starting to blister around plastic on the boot lid, drivers seat won't stop squeaking after many attempts to make it stop. This is the first Fiat i have owned and it will DEFINETLY be the lastOne of my friends has the 3dr coupe model and he suffers similar problems with dash warning lights. Don't be impressed with the reasonable price they sell for, the above problems are why.I have owned many cars over the years and have never experienced as much unhappness with a car as the Fiat StiloPLEASE BE CAREFULL!!!!!!!!!!

Buy one if you must, but make sure your guardian angel drives it. I work for Fiat customer services and in the past 2 days have taken calls from 2 Stilo drivers (the problem actually affects all Fiats) whose cars' front suspension has collapsed whilst at motorway speeds. These calls come through to the customer service department in ...  Read the complete review

I have owned a 2003 Stilo JTD 115 3 door for the last 2 years and 20,000 miles. I bought the car after being suitably impressed by the wifes Stilo Abarth (which had to go before she lost her licence) and wanted something bigger than the Clio I had. Q. What makes the Stilo an attractive car to buy? A. It's great value. On the look out for a 2nd-hand largeish 5 door diesel with low miles i test drove them all - Focus, Corrolla, Golf etc. Then it came to the Stilo. My 1.9 JTD 80 bhp Active on the 53 plate with 18K miles on the clock cost me only 3725 from a local auction. ...  Read the complete review

Fiat Stilo: Great car, well recommended (252 words)

I own the 5-door 1.2 L 16V Active version of the Fiat Stilo. The outer appearence is stylish and muscular without being so ridiculous as to put off female buyers. Internally, the dash is a bit bland and seems huge but the cabin is very roomy and the extra height on the 5-door version makes it feel more like an SUV than a ...  Read the complete review

I've had a 3 door fiat stilo 1.6 dynamic since September 2004. I bought it second hand with the balance of the warranty transferred over to me (nearly 2 years).
