Handsome Coupe looks ahead of its time now much copied today (Ford Cougar 2.0)
Member Name: Gary Davis
Advantages: Distinctive looks, space, size, not common Disadvantages: Rear view, more power if wants Sports car over Coupe Had 2.0 from new and just hit 90,000 miles. No sports car (but then coupe) but if you are looking for a very stylish grand tourer that stands out in a positive manner from the crowd, whilst being very reasonable to buy and maintain, you can't do better for this size of car. It is the part being very distinctive and not common like a 3 or C Class. Look at the current trend for sharp edges and creases and you can see that Ford got there years ahead of BMW with this car and the Mk1 Focus before then toning it down. Put a BMW badge on it and it would have cost a lot, lot more. Have a BM318 in the family, Ford Cougar is nicer, better. Rear parking sensors are sensible option. 2.0 offers 35.6 average mpg and very reasonable insurance which is why I didn't go for the V6 as I cover more than average mileage hence I have 2 cars. Estate car boot space. It has been totally reliable and enjoyable and I have had good dealer support. Battery, exhaust, clutch all original and it will be 8 years old in March 2008. Summary: Fantastic value in its day new, very good value second hand now
