OK, so it isn't quite in the same league as a Ferrari. It's just an average looking car BUT it was, and still is, available (2nd hand)in a whole host of body types and engine sizes. It's been the steady Eddie of the car world - comfortable, reliable and cheap to maintain.

Until Focuses start to flood the 2nd hand market at the right price the Escort will still be a very popular purchase.

Ford excel in comfort. They seem to put a lot of emphasis on seats. I never feel uncomfortable in a firm Ford seat, better than the saggy seats of many other manufacturers (who shall remain nameless).
