Advantages: Echonomical....
Disadvantages: Slow compared to some!!
I have owned one of these for a little over 1 year now, and i have found the car a little dull yet a great little runner for my first car.
The chasis is great because you take lots of sharp corners at high speed, if you can get this slow diesel up to anything classed as high speed.
The Fuel econnemy is great, the way i drove it i was still managing 45mpg+. It was also a very moddifyable car, because there are plenty of after market parts for these cars.
When done up look extremely nice, they are smart cars anyway so with a little imagination they could be GREAT!!!
A picture would be provided but , the only photo i have is at the police forensics team whilst they figure out who put the tree in to my bonnett.
I would say that this car is not just a first time car, it is many things, It is great for 1st time drivers around the age of 17, mainly due to the insurance factor.
For months i was looking for a car with a low insurance category and spending hours on the phone trying to get quotes, untill i found my katie! (Katie being what i named my car) At 17 years old having held my licence for only 5 months with no claims and no bonuses, my cheapest quote was £949.52 for 12months cover fully comp.
When i say that the fiesta was a slow car, what i mean is, its not a nissan skyline, but it's not a peddle bike. Basicly im a young lad looking for speed and this car semi delivers.
With a top end of around 100mph the speed limits can be broke, but i want sound barriers not speed limits.
There is plenty of (luggage space) space for large sound systems in the boot, i managed to fit a twin 10inch splx 800 watt sub box in the boot, with satisfactory space for shopping.
My oppinion of the handling would be satisfactory, it was extremley comfortable to drive, many hours of motorway driving
were semi pleasureable, no journy felt to long.
My overall opinion for anybody thinking of purchasing with a semi low budget, BUY ONE infact BUY TWO...........
It is definatly a car made for ALL!!!

- 23/07/05 The need for speed can be a very dangerous thing and I take it the tree in the middle of you car proves to be evidence of this. At 17, it seems like fun to be zipping around and enjoying the faster side of life, but your fun can be someone elses life, just remember that.
If you want to go fast etc, have a track day somewhere and learn how to handle cars at speed, its not just for your own benefit, but it may help you keep the next car you have on the road.
