Advantages: Its cheap to purchase and run
Disadvantages: lacks extras in the basic model
I bought my Fiesta about a month ago, it is an 08 registration basic model, and I must say I have been impressed! It was a lot nicer to drive than I imagined, smooth, easy and reliable at urban and motorway speeds.
The model which I have is the 2 door version which comes equipped with airbags, a heated windscreen and air conditioning as standard. The heated windscreen is fantastic, it saves so much time in the morning to demist the windshield, unfortunately I havn't had the opportunity to de-ice it yet. The air conditioning is very good, but in comparison to a Rover 75 I used to own, the air is no where near as cold in comparison and due to the engine size of 1.25l, the power drop when it is engaged is really noticeable.
The car is excellent for city driving around town, and is unexpectidly smooth at motorway driving as well, unfortunately it is noisier than larger cars due to the lack of sound proofing.
Efficiency wise, the car ranges from around 40 - 45 mpg around town urban driving, to the best I have achieved of 50 mpg going 60 mph on the motorway for pretty much the entire tank full. Average driving conditions tend to achieve ~46 mpg which is not bad at all.
The built in stereo is a single slot CD player and FM radio, it is also equipped with an auxilary input plug for MP3 player connection which is a nice feature. The FM radio can be selected to receive TA and news bulletins as well.
Overall the car is very nice to drive, it lacks some of the extra features in the base model that you get for a little more money with cars like the Clio or the Seat Ibiza but reliability is better with the Fiesta, insurance costs are low and for maintenance purposes, spare parts are cheap as well.
Summary: Cheap, reliable and functional
