Hired a new Fiesta in Cyprus last year and thought it was a bit rough but put this down to the roads there. This last three weeks had a loan car, Fiesta Style, petrol with 10,000 on the clock, as wifes car written off. Never been a fan of Fords as I can remember the day when you had one only if you couldn't afford a push bike. But they have improved over the years ? Good points : Great radio, clear and easy to use whilst driving. Nice gear change as always. Clear and easy controls on dash. Good seating. Bad points: Harsh engine when pushed. Noisy, couldn't hear the sat nav at 80. Rough ride on B roads, hit a pot hole and risk riveting one's bottom ...

I am lucky enough to own a 1997 (P) Ghia X, and I have to say that it is a FABULOUS little car!!! I must admit that I am a fan of the Fiesta, having owned a mark 2 for 6 or so years. Having upgraded to this newer mark 4 model, I can see that Ford have got things right. The brakes actually work, it feels safe (even thought it is a small car) and is just far more comfortable than the older models. Down sides…well, the 1.4 is perhaps not as economical as you would like (not a plus point in these days of high petrol prices and even complete lack of fuel). It is also not particularly sporty looking compared with cars of similar ilk (e.g. Peoguot 206). ...

We all like comfort in our cars. We all want a little bit extra in our transport. So that is where the Ghia range of fiestas comes into its own for small car niceties. Ghia have been putting their personalised touches on Ford cars for about 25 years now. I remember Escorts of the 1980's having chrome piping around the windows to make them look posh . The Fiesta is one of the models where it makes a REAL difference today. In today's modern fiesta, your "bog standard" model would give you: Manual windows. Basic cloth trim. Basic dash layout.
