A couple of months ago I had to travel to Essex with my job. As a non company car owner I hired, through my firm, a Ford Focus Estate.

The car was just 5 days old with less than 150 miles on the clock.

The car was delivered on Friday for travel on the Sunday.

Sunday evening arrived, I went to the car to start up, nothing - the radio, lights etc all worked but not the engine. After several attempts I gave in and called the RAC.

The problemn was diagnosed as a duff battery that would have to replaced by Ford.

Luckily I was able to use my own car but I was extremely disappointed that a brand new car hardly used and not dirty was heading for the garage already.

That small experience has totally put me off the Focus which, in my opinion, should never have replaced the Escort. Now there is a car with character!
