Advantages: BIG car
Disadvantages: SMALL engine
The Ford Galaxy is a people carrier that looks remarkably like the VW Sharran and the Seat people carrier, this is for a very good reason, as they are the same vehicle, with different badges and different (but very similar) specifications. The model I drive is the 2.0 basic petrol model. The seating can be arranged in many different ways around the two in rear, three in middle and two up front formation. The rear seats are designed very much for the smaller members of the family, anyone over four and a half feet will start to feel cramped. The middle row have reasonably good legroom and good visibility, there are also little fold-up tables and pockets for magazines etc. The front seats are positively luxurious, with plenty of legroom, fully adjustable seats, armrests, and even FOUR, yes count them, FOUR cup holders. Looks are good inside and out, although I challenge the average person to wash the roof effectively. It is quite high off the ground, and difficult to get into/out of the rear of the cabin. The engine, although powerful in a saloon car, is just not powerful enough for a vehicle of this bulk. Uphill and overtaking is a challenge not always worth taking, especially if the car is fully loaded with seven people. A point needs to be added about the steering, although not power assisted, is very easy to maneuver. With all seven seats in use, there is little space for much else in the back short of a few carrier bags or schoolbags (kit bags as well are a no-no). As a five seater vehicle, it is good. As a seven seater vehicle, don't bother unless you get a bigger engine.
