Advantages: Cheap
Disadvantages: Bad driving postition for a small person
I have recently been lent a Ford Ka as a curtesy car while mine was being repaired. I looked at one two years ago while looking for my current car & decided against even taking one for a test drive. I find the driving position very low. I am only 5' & many cars I have looked at seem to give me the same view about 20% of the screen to look through,. This is not a fault in the car but my height that causes this. Because I am not looking at the centre of the screen it seems to distort. The rear view is fine as are the side views. The side mirrors are awkward to position. The switches for lights, wipers & indicators are on sticks off the steering wheel which I like, power steering ensures easy cornering. The seat is OK but I would not like to do a long trip in the Ka, the rear passenger seats are very cramped. The car seems to bounce a lot causeing funny noises which I can only assume are the plastic side panels. The interior is comfortable with everything in easy reach, the radio has large controls making it easy to adjust while driving. I am not overly impressed with the car mainly because of the driving position but for someone of a more normal stature this would not pose a problem. The look of the car is odd to me but I am sure others find it cute!

- 30/05/01 Only annoying thing about the KA is that you can't fit a 6' person at the back. Otherwise it's a great car! |

- 04/10/00 I've always thought it was a bloody funny looking KA, but it's growing on me a bit. I guess most small cars can do with being a bit bigger on a long run anyway |
