Ka
This vehicle was hired from Enterprise Car hire when we had a bit of a dink in our Range Rover, before you ask not our fault as some idiot came out of a side turning straight into our side doors. I do not know how he did not see us but there you have it. His excuse was I did not see you and thought you would have gone? Duh Big yellow beasty was a bit hard to miss.
Anyway this lovely little vehicle the KA.

A small compact and nippy vehicle, and once you got used to the size of it you started to like this tiny little shoe box of a car. Economic and reliable to run it is a must for any one looking at the current economic market. Up to 60 miles to the galloon it is very cheap to run. I know mentioned that already.

We managed to get around 45 to 50 miles to the gallon from the one we hired but that was good value in itself as we are used to a car that runs 15 to 20 mtg. This little car is compact which is where the draw back comes in. There is not a lot of room inside for a weeks worth or indeed a months worth of shopping. Just enough room for the three of us large people. So not a big family car but good enough for the town run around for work. Nips neatly into most places which is a big bonus.
Plastic and fabric interior did not look too shabby, lots of dials and knobs too get used to, looked a bit space age for a basic ka, but ok.
Drove well and cornering was a little strange a first but after the initial shock of it appearing to go around them nose heavy it was again ok. Front wheel drive as most of these type are, works well on dry roads, kind of scary on wet roads but the tyres did stick somewhat well once you got used to the way they worked. Braking was immediate and a gentle foot was needed. You could easily find out what all the airbags were for if you stuck them on hard, So it has really good brakes.
The drive was after this learning curve was complete a good one and once you got over the steering quirks and the handling of it she became quite a little darling to drive. I am used to a Range rover so this was a dramatic difference to drive and I have to say I think I really liked it, so much so that I am thinking of trading in my beloved Range rover for one just like it. The ka, a simple cheap and reliable vehicle with loads of little airbags in the compartments inside the car with little labels stating this. Cheap running, cost effective insurance, cheaper tax, and a joy to drive, once you got used to the different style.
I am suitably impressed.
I have to say I was equally impressed with Enterprise rental company too as they were more than helpful.
A new experience for me and I loved it.

Summary: good for the local commute and small trips to the shops

Possibly you may have had to "unlearn" how to drive your Range Rover when driving the Ka, which made it seem a bit quirky to you. Some one without your experience probably wouldn't notice anything odd about the Ka. (I had a similar experience going from a large Toyota 4WD to a Vauxhall Corsa hire car a few years ago).
