Advantages: Excellent small car drives like a go Kart
Disadvantages: Costly to fix
***Why purchased a KA 1.6 SE***
My first car was a 10 year old fiesta which I unfortunately wore out on my long journeys to work, so I decided to invest in something small and nippy.
My first choice was a KA because i loved the look of them ... however my partner got involved and persuaded me to look at something else, after a lengthy discussion I opted for the sports version which had the bigger engine and was much nippier.
***The evil twin***
Advertised as the evil twin I was very impressed with my snazzy new car.
In the end I purchased the sport KA special edition 1.6 engine and loved my purchase. The car was small, attractive and dare I say sexy?
The car was an electric blue with black interior and black/blue leather seats.
If you fancy something that gets you from A to B whilst looking amazing, this is the car for you.
As I had the special addition the leather seats were classy, electric gadgets a godsend and the air con fantastic in the summer.
The car was a steal at £8,900 as only 6 months old with 6700 on the clock. From new this car was £11,900, and as much as I loved this car I have to admit I would not have paid this price.
I love small everyday cars so the KA was ideal for me, my partner was happy with the 1.6 version. Have you ever feel like you have driven a go kart....this is what it feels like.
Fun to drive yet economical with the fuel, however it did eat more fuel than my trusty 1.1 fiesta. With low tax and insurance I was happy that I had bought this car.
The disadvantages...the boot space was very small but I was only interested in getting my shopping in the car, but it would not fit my partners golf clubs in.
The spare tyre was in fact a space saver that was tucked safely away under the car and it was quite hard to get at and also to put away.
Unfortunately I had several problems with the car including suspension problems within 3 months but luckily it was under warranty, I needed a new gear box after 35,000 miles which cost £790 to replace and a new sensor (something to do with the fuel) which cost £280 to replace.
An excellent car but quite expensive to repair and I really shouldnt have had so many problems with a car of that age.
However I have had friends who have had the standard 1.3 version with no problems at all.
***Overall***
A step up from some of your basic cars, no other person I knew owned one so I felt quite special, decent running costs but price to repair.
Summary: Good first car
