The perfect town runaround?
Member Name: foogirl
Advantages: Quick and nippy, comfortable to drive, larger than expected boot space
Disadvantages: Inherent issues with weak suspension bushes
The Ka Luxury is a wonderful car to choose if you're looking for a decent town runaround that won't cost you the earth.
We purchased ours second-hand from the husband's parents. It's an 04 plate with (now) 41,000 miles on the clock. A lovely dark blue, with black leather interior, CD player, heated front and rear windscreens and air conditioning.
The heated windscreens work within a couple of minutes of the car being started, although the front screen is not as quick to defrost as the rear one. I have to say, living in Britain, that we haven't had to use the air conditioning much, but when we have it's come on very quickly and you don't have to have it on for very long.
The ride comfort is quite good for a small car, and it fits my husband in (6 ft 4 ins) without any difficulty.
It is very economical, with a 40 litre petrol tank on the 1.3i model, and we usually only have to fill up once every 2 weeks, even with me commuting 30-odd miles every day.
Another reviewer has mentioned the suspension springs going. This is our second Ka, and the only problem we've had initially is the suspension bushes wear down and crack relatively easily. It's only if you ignore the creaking for too long that the springs go.
Boot space is more than you'd expect from a car this size, and we can fit a decent sized weekly shop in there with no problems. If you need to put something bigger in there, usually you only need to put the seats down and it'll fit.
All in all, a great little fun car to own!
