Right, this is not about James Garner, and that extremely funny movie come T.V. series, but a Ford enthusiast’s opinion of the New Maverick. As I use to work for a Ford Main Dealer, my knowledge, feel and understanding of the ford range grew. I may be a bit biased, but not to the point where my judgement will be altered or blind, in any way. For those of you who remember and love the old Maverick, this will be a shock, as the new maverick has but the name and badge in common. I have a (second hand) 1994 GLX. Its pretty good, but awful thirsty. I get 25 MPG from my 2.7 TD engine, but as I am a forester and I am often on forest roads and off road perhaps this isn't too bad. I am sure there are lighter vehicles around. This weighs 1.7 tonnes. My mechanic recently replaced the clutch, and reckons that half the weight is taken up with the engine and gearbox! :) I am slightly at variance with the chap who wrote the effusive assessment of the Nissan Terrano, (Which is what the Maverick is). Buy Ford parts! Nissan parts are much more expensive! ...
