Advantages: A robust workhorse

Disadvantages: Thirsty even the diesel

I have a (second hand) 1994 GLX. Its pretty good, but awful thirsty. I get 25 MPG from my 2.7 TD engine, but as I am a forester and I am often on forest roads and off road perhaps this isn't too bad.

I am sure there are lighter vehicles around. This weighs 1.7 tonnes. My mechanic recently replaced the clutch, and reckons that half the weight is taken up with the engine and gearbox! :)

I am slightly at variance with the chap who wrote the effusive assessment of the Nissan Terrano, (Which is what the Maverick is).

Buy Ford parts! Nissan parts are much more expensive!

No problems so far and now at 94 000 miles. Transfer box OK, but some knocking at full lock. Still a good machine. Think I'll stick with it (having just looked at a Cherokee Jeep)

Good advice to buy Ford parts, but, quite a few of the nissan parts are different.

In this day and age, it is often cheaper to buy Patent parts. As long as they achieve the relevant safety standards!

If you add more info about your feelings on the maverick and what else has gone wrong (hows your transfer box - has it gone yet?) and I will re-rate it.
