Well, a couple of years ago, when I desperatly needed a bigger car, I was mostly looking for Vauxalls or Peugots - I even thought about a Honda Jazz - but when I stumbled across this second hand, turqoisey coloured Mondeo, I decided to give it a go! I might as well tell you now, it was quite a change when I started driving this car, my old car was a gold Nissian Micra lol! With an automatic gearbox and material seats too add to it! But with my son growing taller every time I looked at him, I knew it was time to get a bigger car!
Inside the car, is very nice, with good quality dark leather seats, and decent leg room for people in the back (just what we needed for my son!) . There is also a nice plastic, black wood kind of effect for the part where the radio goes... very stylish! Also on that part, like I mentioned in the title, is the cup holder which best fits coke bottles from McDonald's I find. But if your can doesn't fit in there, don't worry! There is another holder by the handbrake which does hold drinks better, but isn't as conveniently placed. Little things like that the light comes on when it is locked or unlocked is a good touch as well.

The dashboard is not as nice to the eye as the rest of the car, but definitely does its job. Like with most modernish cars, it has a light that comes on when someone doesn't have their seatbelt on, and has the nice little features like the temperature, which it takes from outside the car. Quite handy on the way to school, as you can measure it up to the temperature from yesterday and so on. Should've seen it when it was snowing last year .. wow lol! It also has different coloured snowflakes, when its below 0 degrees it turns blue. If you are close to running out of fuel (though it does have some reserve fuel) it will beep every now and then, just as a reminder.
Another nice little gadget is the fact that, if you are travelling home late at night and you don't feel to comfortable, you can lock all of the doors, which does leave you feeling a bit better. With the electric windows, the front ones can wind down completely at the touch of a button, but the back ones don't go down completely and stop about a 4/5 of the way down. Useful when there are littler kids in the car. As well as controlling all of the windows, the driver can also lock the two back windows.

As I mentioned earlier as well, there is a lot of leg room and the front seats move backwards and forwards very easily once you learn where the paddle is. You pull up the paddle and simply push forward or backwards, depending on which way you want to go. And in the back, if you don't need to use the middle seat, it easily pulls out from the back and becomes a armrest. Great for when kids are arguing that "She's in my half!" and so on ... trust me lol!

Running wise, it is also very impressive. A nice smooth ride and for a car of its size, I have to say it is pretty easier to manoeuvre to parking spaces and so on. Though it does sometimes get quite tight with a small park bay. And as stupid as this may seem, on the road in this car, you do get more respect. When I was in the micra, at lot of the time I would be at a junction waiting for a while, but people do seem to let me out more in the Mondeo. I think it is because it is more of a meaty car.
Because it is a meaty car though, it does cost more to fill up, and in these times, and the cost of fuel at the moment (don't even get me started on it lol!) that isn't a great plus really. But I genuinely fill up £20-£30 quid each time and it does last me an ok amount of time, considering the amount of driving I do. This is the biggest minus to me to be honest.

I can't really give you the price I paid, as I brought it about 2-3 years ago anyway. And instead of buying it straight, I swapped the Micra and paid some extra for the Mondeo. But you can get these pretty cheap now, and they aren't that much to insure and repair. By that I don't mean to insure it is dirt cheap, but reasonable.
Overall, I would say it is a great family car ( a proper 5 seat family car as well! Not like some where you would never even fit a 2 year old in the middle seat!) and good value for money. They are incredibly comfy and look really nice and sleek, though they do scratch quite easy. Although like I said, the fuel consumption isn't great, everything else about this car is great, so I do feel that in a way, it overpowers that. That's why I give this car 4 stars! I definitely recommend! =)
