Honda Accord (1998 on) in general

Newest Review: ... to take fuel economy into account. The Accord is generally reliable but it does go through brake pads at a rather alarming rate, expect to change them at least annually, Euro Car Parts are the best place to source the pads from, steer clear of main dealers as they charge way too much for a job that a competent DIY enthusiast can accomplish in about an hour with only a few tools. If you are considering selling your Accord remember this, although on the whole these are quality cars, people don't want to pay the true worth of the car, people expect you to give them the car these days so if you ARE considering selling, DON'T.... more

I have to say that as cars go, the Honda Accord is up there in terms of quality, what lets the side down is the aftersales, my experience of customer care at my local dealership in Lowestoft who supplied me with the car leaves a lot to be desired, personally I have decided that I will not consider buying Honda again due to the severe lack of customer care, Honda UK weren't much better either, I had a lot of problems getting them to do anything when I was having problems with my accord. Getting back to the Accord though, mine is a 2000 (X) 1.8i VTEC automatic, it has that clever sequential 4 speed semiautomatic gearbox but can be driven as a fully automatic in either ...  Read the complete review

Whilst its probably fair to say that the Honda Accord isnt the first name to go on most buyers shortlists when thinking about a mid-range family saloon, the latest round of price cuts and improvements to the car could well go some way to changing that. The Accord has, more than any other model, finally laid to rest the image of Honda being a small car specialist. In 2001,the previously confusing Accord range was simplified and the value proposition was boosted, increasing its appeal to British customers. The marketing of the Accord fits European tastes better than ever before, something which shouldnt be surprising when you consider its a car built in Britain, designed ...  Read the complete review

Honda Accord (1998 on) in general: What a surprise (550 words)

I returned from holiday and faced a mountain of mail. Amongst the usual collection of bills and junk mail was an envelope from the Daily Telegraph with a pleasant surprise in it. A competition I had entered earlier in the year included a prize to win a weekend holiday break at a luxury hotel with the use of a top-of-the-range Honda Accord 2.2I V-Tec. No sooner back from one break and I could look forward to another. A few days later I contacted Honda UK and set up the dates when we would have our break and which dealer would supply the car. The date was a month away and having arranged to put the kids in kennels (well grandparents look after them it?s about ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Can buy better for the same price (171 words)

Since purchasing a Accord hatchback in 1998 due to only option on company car list which was suitable, boredom has struck. Don't get me wrong it has been reliable and is exceptionally quiet. However a low torque engine, poor road holding, cramped seating, boring styling, higher than advertised fuel consumption and a tendency to eat front tyres (a characteristic to VTECH powered Honda's) make it a lot less tempting offer. Driving this car for more than an hour is almost guarnteed to give me cramp and/or back ache. Once I got cramp in my right foot whilst driving along almost causing an accident for myself. I have never had this problem in any other car before or ...  Read the complete review

Honda Accord (1998 on) in general: Japanese Tiger (324 words)

Worthy but dull is the best way to sum up the Honda Accord, but it’s still worth a look if you’re in the market for a compact executive motor. OK so it’s not quite such a good looker as its near identical cousin, the Rover 600, but if you don’t mind going without a fancy grille, the Honda is cheaper and on top of that it’s got plenty of other stuff going for it too. First there’s the engines. Whether you opt for the entry level 1.8 litre (113bhp), the mid range 2.0 litre(129bhp) or flagship 2.2 litre VTEC (148bhp), you won’t be disappointed as they all boast smooth power delivery and refinement. If there is a criticism ...  Read the complete review
