I have to say that as cars go, the Honda Accord is up there in terms of quality, what lets the side down is the aftersales, my experience of customer care at my local dealership in Lowestoft who supplied me with the car leaves a lot to be desired, personally I have decided that I will not consider buying Honda again due to the severe lack of customer care, Honda UK weren't much better either, I had a lot of problems getting them to do anything when I was having problems with my accord.
Getting back to the Accord though, mine is a 2000 (X) 1.8i VTEC automatic, it has that clever sequential 4 speed semiautomatic gearbox but can be driven as a fully automatic in either 4 speed or 3 speed modes, I tend to use the 4 speed fully automatic mode, I find that I can get better fuel economy that way and on average I manage to get 400 miles plus to a full tank, given that it cost me £63.00 recently to fill it from empty when this time last year it was only £45.00, I think that it is very important to take fuel economy into account.
The Accord is generally reliable but it does go through brake pads at a rather alarming rate, expect to change them at least annually, Euro Car Parts are the best place to source the pads from, steer clear of main dealers as they charge way too much for a job that a competent DIY enthusiast can accomplish in about an hour with only a few tools.
If you are considering selling your Accord remember this, although on the whole these are quality cars, people don't want to pay the true worth of the car, people expect you to give them the car these days so if you ARE considering selling, DON'T.

Summary: Good cars, buy privately and once you have one, keep it.
