On 20 october 2000, we tried the then current Honda Civic 1.8 VTiS. This 'S' model has spoilers, side skirts and graphics and is only available in 'Pirates Black' (unlike the similar VTi, which is available in a range of colours). A dealer in Hamilton has a pre-registered model available for £12995, about £5,000 discount. Our nearest dealer is keen to match this price if we agree to purchase, but could not offer a car to examine. We thus tried a 2000 V registered demonstrator (iteslf on sale at £12,995) at another Edinburgh dealer, with 6,000 miles on the clock. Now (March 2002), these are available from about £7,000. I believe that the Honda Civic is a great car because it obtains good gas mileage and it is a great base to start with if you are an import tuner. The Honda company struck gold when they created this wonderful car because they must have sold hundreds and thousands of them all over the world. I personally like the years ninety six and up because the headlights are bigger and it makes the car look different. Another reason why the civic is so great is because you can do so many things to it like, you can put a body kit on it, put a wing on it, you can get headers, intake and exhaust put on for more horsepower and torque and sound. But if you really wonna go fast you ... Read the complete review

The Honda Civic is a very good car, I owned my Honda for 2 years, and only sold it because I received a company car. The cars handling is very good and the performance excellent, also the fuel consumption is good. I clocked up quite a lot of miles whilst owning this car and never had any mechanical problems, also the after sales service was second to none. The build quality of this car is reasonable (not as good as BMW) but much better than most. The only problem I had with this car was trying to sell it privately which proved very difficult and I made quite a big loss. But overall an excellent car that I would definately recommend. ... A very reliable and practical small car. This is my second Honda, my first was an Accord AeroDeck, which I kept for 6 years because I really liked the car. Overall, I have been very impressed with Honda. They have a well deserved reputation for good quality and excellent reliability. The customer service which I have received from my local Honda garage is also a lesson to those who deal with other manufacturers. The only real niggle I have with Civic is that it feels a little underpowered, especially after driving the 2 litre Accord. This is partly because you have to get the revs above 4000 before the power really begins to come in. Not ideal for ... Read the complete review

I drive a "T" reg civic 1.6 automatic and I must say it is definitly the best car we as a family have ever owned. Right from the start (we bought it from a Honda Dealer) I found everything about the Honda a pleasant experience. It was the first time I had met a car salesman who did not seem to have his hand on my wallet before I did. The car is an excellent smooth ride with all the toys expected of todays modern car with twin airbags and electric everything. My friends said I should buy a nice patriotic home made British car like a Ford. Ha! a nice British car like a Ford ( built in Germany ) no thanks, I'11 have one of those nasty Honda ...
