Advantages: Reliability, Speed, Economy

Disadvantages: No diesel model yet (due 2003)

Had my CR-V now since sept 1999.
Still runs like new (suppose the Honda Services may have helped a bit).
Is very fast for such a large vehicle hitting 60mph in 10 secs and managing well over 100mph. Also very spacious with a few hidden compartments.

Interior:
Inside is good & comfy. Rear seats even recline which is excellant for fitting some child car seats and you can put the angle in any position as opposed to most other cars that have rear seats either fully up or fully down. Air con , light washers , heated mirrors, full electrics all as standard, also a Pioneer CD although I cant remember if this was standard or not.

In the rear it has plenty of space even with the second row of seats up. It has a aux power connection in the boot similar to the cig lighter in the front. To this you can attach a fridge/cooler box, a shower and a few other toys all available from Honda or Halfords e.t.c (Yes I did say a shower)
The carpet in the boot is velcro'd down and when removed reveales a hidden compartment, under this is a Water tight storage area. The lid when removed also doubles as a picnic table with legs that just fold down.

You get good visibility all round although I sometimes prefer to remove rear headrest (when the kids are in as they don't need them) to make it even better.

4X4 system:
The 4x4 system is patented Honda technology. Instead of having another stick to turn on or off. It apparently detects a loss of traction and switches on in 1/100th of a second and from experience does seem to work well. I think this helps with the economy too as most of the time you will just be using 2 WD and switch to 4x4 when you need it.

Economy:
I think that this is above average for a vehicle of this class , I get a combined of about 30mpg or just under. I find that many other manufacturers don't even match that in there equivalent diesel models and deffinately not in the Petrol.

Reliabi
lity:
Never a problem, not a rattle or a squeek and it now has done 38,000 miles.
Recently in Which magazine they sent me a Car buying guide in which they commented on most aspects of manufacturers and some specific models... Honda clearly came top of reliability polls on almost every model they make. After about 3 years of using Honda vehicles (including Civics and Accords) I feel I would always intend to own a Honda for several reasons, reliability being the main one. Also they hold there value better than any other car I have previously owned.

Final Thoughts:
Although it is a 4x4 it is not designed for off road although I have occasioanlly taken it off road with no problems.

Would highly recommend.
I hope this has helped any potential buyers.

Hi and welcome to dooyoo. I couldn't give you a higher rating as you didn't tell us much about the car. Have a look at the premier opinions (LH side of the page) and you will get the idea. Do enjoy the site.
