Advantages: High revving engine, Responsive steering, Good on low grade roads
Disadvantages: None
I bought a used 2001 HR-V VTEC Five Door in November 2002 - I love it. The VTEC engine works hard, revs high, and responds very quickly. You need to "drive" it - use the gears and don't be frightened of thrashing it - it's happy up to 7,000 rpm - it's the top end power that lets you pull away and overtake in the hills. I drive across the Pennines in North Yorkshire/Lancs several times a week. I feel prepared for the bad weather - and the 4WD "when you need it" is just what I need - it was one of the reasons I bought the car. The steering is direct with plenty of feedback. You feel in touch with the road and pulling out of trouble is easy. The car is fun, comfortable, and just right for me. I drive about equally on Motorway and Northern A/B roads. I wouldn't recommend the car to everyone - but if you like to be different it could be the car for you.

- 21/12/02 Interesting review, but I would love to hear more about how the car drives, how comfortable it is, what its fuel economy is, how much it costs to insure etc. Andy |
