The Honda HRV is a car that I dearly hate. The £13,000 HRV is very expensive for what you get and there isn't even four-wheel drive, there is just front-wheel drive. However, when my friend let me drive this car for the weekend, I found it was dead easy to drive. The five-speed manual gearbox and the clutch are perfectly balanced and wonderfully light. The 1.6-litre, 16 valve, 4 cylinder engine isn't very impressive and the car does 0-62mph in an unimpressive 11.2 seconds. For £13,000, however, you do get a lot of kit such as air-conditioning, twin airbags and anti-lock brakes with electronic brake distribution that all come as standard. ... Read the complete review

When I saw the H-RV on the launch day last year, I fell in love with it. It looked 'the biz'. I test drove it the next day, nothing special, handled OK, not much roll in the corners for a car with a high center of gravity, not that quick, but I felt the looks of the thing made up for those little niggles.
