Advantages: Easy to drive, great all round vision and lots of space
Disadvantages: Not the cheapest small car to buy or to run
Now before I start, let me make one thing clear - I am not the sort of girl who watches Top Gear, reads Auto trader or understands what torque is, so this review is not going to be full of technical details about the car. This is going to be the sort of review that I would have liked to have read to help me choose my car, about what is actually like to drive and own a Honda Jazz.
When I was looking for a new car, as well as all the usual priorities - reliability, cost efficiency etc etc I wanted a small car that was easy to drive and park but wanted a large boot to fit in easily my buggy plus shopping. Luckily, I have a husband who knows all about cars and he thought the Honda Jazz option would suit me best, and wouldn't you know it - he was right!
The Jazz is something like a tardis - really does seem bigger on the inside. It has all the benefits of a nippy little car, really easy to park, but the inside space is great. The boot is HUGE - fits my mamas and papas pliko pramette (not the smallest buggy on the market) in really easily sideways - no need to jam in diagonally like you do in some boots - plus there is plenty of room for shopping. The back seats also have this neat function where they fold upwards completely, so there is complete floor to ceiling storage - I bought a standard bay tree the other weekend and it fitted in just perfectly.
I am not the best driver in the world, but find the Jazz really easy to drive. The brakes are really responsive and the clutch is very forgiving - can pootle in 5th from 30 miles an hour with no probs. The car isn't the quickest off the lights, but once you are up to speed it holds it own quite nicely.
There is great all around vision which together with the excellent steering lock makes it very easy to park.
The Jazz is fairly cheap to run too - steady 50 miles per gallon on average, though admittedly the servicing cost if you take it to a Honda dealership adds up (no surprise there!). Plus car tax is around £125 a year so not the cheapest, but then it is not the smallest car on the market.
The Jazz's seem to hold their price well on the second hand market, probably because they are such a versatile car. Plus with Honda reliability, pretty bullet proof too, so a winner all around. So, if you are after you very own tardis, the Jazz is the one for you.
Summary: Great small car, easy to drive with the advantage of large inside space
