I had my Jaguar for seven lovely years. It is not just a car but it is something becomes a part of you. I have always laughed at men who name their cars but my S Type definitely had a place in my heart.
I ordered a brand new Jag to get the spec that I wanted. The delivery date came but I received a phone call in the morning to say the the car had been crushed on the transporter, apparently the top had collapsed onto my car. The company offered me a 10% reduction off the price if I waited for them to build another one for me. I agreed and during the time it took to rebuild another car I was given a courtesy car of the same spec.
Jaguar is one of the best companies that I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. The staff are always courteous and efficient. They are happy to work around you (not the other way round as we all too often expect) I have always been offered a lift home or a courtesy car when having a service done.
The car is a dream to drive. I was concerned about buying a 3 litre and not the 4 litre because it is such a big car but the 3 litre engine does have the power and acceleration that you would want from a sporty family car.
The car never had any major problems until the gear box failed. It was a few months after the warranty has expired but Jaguar offered without asking to fit a new one at no cost because it was so close to the warranty period. What other company would do that without you asking?
All in all 10 out of 10 for design, handling and comfort. Petrol consumption wasn't so good but what else would you expect from a luxury car?
