This is one of those cars that you would just not even bat an eyelid at. Having owned one for a while I found out why people just do not buy these cars! Firstly to look at they are just plain ugly and that's putting it politely. There is just no style to them whatsoever and on the inside the story is no different. It was bland and dull with a mixture of cloth and plastic that gave it a nasty cheap feel inside. However, I have to admit that besides being repulsive in the looks department there did lie some hidden talents. Starting off with the bargain basement price, where its rivals (Ford Focus, Vauxhall Astra) don't even get a look in! You can pick one of these up for well under a £1000 in Auto Trader in excellent condition, fully serviced low mileage and MOT'D. The 1.5L ,1.6L and 1.8L 4 cylinder engines are virtually bomb proof! Very rarely did anything go wrong with mine and I did some serious mileage as well. Also because there is a lack of electrical equipment (eg no power windows, mirrors, and sunroof) there isn't much to go wrong in the 1st place. The fuel economy was reasonable and insurance cost very, very cheap. I was paying around £230 per year! The spare parts were fairly expensive brand new but could always be sourced cheaper via the scrapyard. The handling and performance of the car were not exactly brilliant, but it did the job. 0-60 in 11.7 seconds, top speed, 107. 30 mpg average. What standard equipment you got with this car, was good, such as electric aerial an remote control boot. If you can get past the looks, there's a great car underneath.
