Advantages: Cheap to run, Not much to worry about, Reliable

Disadvantages: Ugly, Boring

After learning to drive for the 2nd time at 23 I knew I had to do it this time, I tried when I was 17 but I ran out of money due to moving out of home at 17 too and living in a city I never really required a car.

I passed anyway 4th time! I can't even begin to tell you how excited I was when I got the news that I had finally made it! I had freedom.

Before I passed my test, My Mum and Dad gave me there other car The Kia Pride from what I can remember it was an L Reg and looked really old and not very eye catching but I was so pleased to have been given this car as it was my own. It had also been in our family for 10 years as my sister bought it at 18mths and she sold it to my mum, 7 years later. She had used it a few years and now it was my turn.

They never had any real big issue with this car it was reliable and trustworthy.

Correct me if I am wrong but Kia engines are made by Mazda and this model is the same as another Mazda model.

I started to drive this car before I passed driving on a provisional as it helped me get some practise in before my test.

It has a high driving position and is fairly roomy for a small car. The engine I had was a 1.1 and had trouble climbing hills and motorways were hard work. It was great on fuel with a Petrol engine I think I spent £20 a month on fuel.

On the motorway though it's a very different story it shakes when it finally does get to 70mph and when it's windy you really have to grip the wheel.

Its basic, and maybe that's why it never had much go wrong with it, as it was a box on wheels with a steering wheel and engine. No electric anything.

That's no power steering, electric windows, central locking, just bog standard car.

It wasn't too bad to drive although hard when trying to park with having no power steering.

Yes its ugly looking but it's cheap to run and it never went wrong with me.

After about a year I decided to move on to better things and bought another 2nd hand old car and my dad took this one back as a guy at work wanted it to get to and from work.

I then heard a few months back the Kia had ended up in car heaven, the bonnet flew off while driving on the motorway!

You can probably pick one of these up for a couple of hundred quid, all depending on the age etc.
