Advantages: Tremendous power and durability.

Disadvantages: Not the best on the road, possibly.

I would just like to say that I think that the Land Rover Defender is just about the best 4x4 ever made, and it's British! Not often we get to say that, eh? Seeing as it is still the same basic beast as it was in 1948, with obvious improvements as technical advances have been made, it hasn't half done badly! I read recently that an army Land Rover was decommissioned after 32 years of service, and is still going strong! Not bad, eh? The Defender is just about the most durable thing on 4 wheels. Anything that can survive being dropped out of planes in parachutes with the paratroopers, is strong wnough by my standards. Ijust can't praise it enough. Also, with the new TD5 engine, the Defender is even better than before. The Defender will outlive us all.
