Advantages: Big, brash, bold, ballsy! So good I brought another one!! Big and only 31mpg

Disadvantages: Filling up costs a small fortune, but you get used to it!! 26-32 mpg

I am loving it!!

We were in the market for an estate car 4 years ago, and whilst the choice is massive, I decided that I wasn't ready for the flat cap and driving gloves just yet!!

My first was a 300 tdi 97/R. A cracking car. One of the last tdi's made, so all the niggles had been sorted out.
The engine was good, until the head gasket popped, and then the garage bill was very high, £1300.
But we still loved it.
Doing 24k miles per year was costing a lot on servicing, a tip:

YOU MUST GET 300 tdi's SERVICED EVERY 6000 MILES!!!! It is not good to forget, the older cars were not designed to do such high miles in a short time. 4 services per year at 450 a go, and the monthly service bill is about £150!!

So time to change, 24 x 4 = 96k, and it was begnning to show.
Some rust in the lower rear panels, and in the B frame. But other than that it was a monster!

Now got a TD5, 2003/03. It has all the bits I wanted and more, air con!!
But the biggest shock was filling it up, the old car had an 80 litre tank, which was big.
THE NEW ONE HAS A 97 LITRE TANK!!!

But then the fuel does last forever, well 700 miles, but then my old Focus took £45 for 280 miles. So not too bad!

However if you want a cheap to run car, you need to go for a VW TDi 130, for 55mpg.

But the Disco is the best, good visablity, good solid ride, air suspension, auto leveling, 7 proper seats.
And servicing every 12k! Brilliant!

I brought mine from Trinity Land Rover in Hinckley, miles from home, but Bill Doyle provided the best customer service that I have recieved in a long long time. He even drove the 3 hour round trip in the car for me to test drive!
He is a legend!!

Summary: I loved my old one to bits, quite literally, so I brought a newer one!!!
