Advantages: Strong, comfortable, economical and reliable

Disadvantages: Noisy

I've been driving a 1992 Discovery Tdi from new and have now covered around 94,000 miles. Although most of this has been on road, it has also been used off-road.

Well surprisingly enough, very little has actually gone wrong. One weak point on the car has been the power steering unit which has had to be replaced twice in this time. From a non-franchised dealer, the replacement cost is around £300. The front swivel hub oil seals have leaked in the past, but this has now been cured because Land Rover now specify a lifetime grease rather than an oil.

The car has let me down twice in use. The first time was due to the battery failing, and the second was a split oil hose which was easily replaced.

Overall, I have been very pleased with the car. Depreciation has been low, reliability has been good and it returns around 30mpg.
