      great car I love it

Love this car, I have owened this second hand for the last 18 months and bought it with 97k miles on the clock.

Having never owned one of these before I did wonder how heavy they would be on diesel and if it would be sluggish to drive but I am very impressed.

This car drives like a dream, despite the miles it has never let me down, it is roomy and spacious and has a decent sized boot space compared with the 3 door version.

Fuel consumption wise it is fine and I get as many miles to this as I do my Audi A3, although I wouldn't touch the petrol version with a barge pole.

Insurance wise it isn't expensive and even the tyres only cost me £80 each when they needed replacing, it isn't as nippy as a normal car but I love it all the same.

Decent quality, extremely reliable, hard working second hand bargain 4X4

18 months a go we bought one of these on a year 2000 w plate. It had covered 87000 miles at the time. Since then we have covered a further 18000 miles with very few problems to report.

We go camping a great deal and also have a large dog who we like to take off with us when we go camping or just for a days walking so after considering our options we went for the Freelander. It gave us the ability to use its generous load capacity and also to help us get out of typically wet camp sites that we always seem to end up on.

It returns pretty decent economy considering its size, its not a "gas guzzler" by any stretch of the imagination. Its very comfortable to drive, even over some of the long distances we have taken it.

Of the problems we have encountered, well, 2 punctures is not the cars fault, a fuse went for the windscreen wipers and the battery needed changing in the central locking fob! None of these have made any impact in our admiration for this vehicle.

So if you need a large practical family car that will give you the ability to get off the beaten track, be fairly good on fuel and arrive feeling refreshed this is the car for you.

Second hand this car is a bargain, prices are reasonable and will probably drop the way fuel cost are going. This doesn't bother us though because we have every intention of keeping this car a long time.
