Advantages: good on fuel, bigger than you think
Disadvantages: everyone else seems to have one
This is a little car truly worth discovering, even if it is only a new Ford Fiesta with a Mazda badge on the front! Mine is second hand, but looks and behaves more or less like new, particularly if I am driving it well! It is surprisingly spacious for a small car and can fit all my worldly possessions inside, as was proved when I moved recently. Not bad, eh? Fuel consumption is also excellent (see debate on Fuel Prices!), with 400 miles to a tank on long journeys. Handling is excellent and turning circle is nice and cheeky - you can do things a lot of other small cars can't. The controls are also well-positioned and easy to get at, and the standard radio is also good value. The great thing about the radio fittings is that there's no point in anyone nicking them, either, as they only fit other Ford Fiestas/Mazda 121's. Ha ha ha. What else? Cute looking, fun car with serious space going on inside and a curvy dashboard which adds to the Tardis illusion. Go and get one for yourself!

- 07/05/05 Probably noone else has written because Mazda had, insanely, replaced the earlier 121/Revue model, a really great original car, with a poorer performing, outdated, ugly and dull copy of Ford Fiesta You wrote about. At the time, the original car 16v versions outperformed Fiesta of the same engine size in every way - speed, acceleration, handling, smaller turning circle, better fuel economy, more room inside...they still do, only now we have better reliability and less depreciation over the years added to that. Hopefully, it will soon be posted for reviews under Mazda 121/Revue 1991-1995. I still have no reason to part with mine, would like to hear experience from anybody with an early 1.3 16V example.
