C180 did the job but now have C280 nuff said...... (Mercedes-Benz C 180 Classic)

Advantages: C280 is a V6!

I drove a C180 for a year and put 25000 miles on it in that time. It was 4 yrs old when I bought it and had 90000 miles on it when I traded it for a 3yr old 25k miles C280.

The 180 was quite fun in that you could leave your foot on the floor and not get into trouble but of course the engine is rather thrashy at top revs and it is not the fastest machine.

Everything worked on it and because it had an auto box and a/c and other goodies it was worth something in the second hand market. Without those toys you would be struggling.

Now I drive a C280 with AMG alloys and inferred from the above is that it can get away from you so the gear changes or rather the throttle opening needs to be judged better. The sound of the V6 is not as good as a BMW straight 6 but it revs freely to 6000rpm red line and does the job. It burbles nicely at town speeds as well!

Having driven E classes I think the C class is much better for doing significant miles and throwing round corners but that is just my opinion!
