Mercedes E220 124model (Mercedes-Benz E-Class)
Member Name: pipmk
Advantages: Everything Disadvantages: Cost
I bought this 2 years ago as a new import. They were still assembling them in India. This is the square light model, not the present frog eye E class. The 124 like the 190 represented the last of the over engineered Mercs (unfortunatly),hewn from solid steel and as tough as a Centurion tank. The present C and E class are much more lightweight and just aren't up to the standard that made Mercs reputation. Like all Mercs its a bit basic, pick your own stereo, forget the outside temperature thermometer and all the goodies that lesser makes hang on their models,Merc make cars not executive toys. But the ride, the go, the stop, the sense of reeling in the horizon, the way the doors shut with a clunk and not a clang, the way the switches are solid and will move in the same positive way in 10 years time as they do now,the suprise you feel when you see in the back window that youv'e just gone over 6 speed bumps and never felt a thing.... thats the Mercedes experience.
