When i got my Ml-320 it was the only engine size and model on the market, now they have expanded into the 400's and brought in a slightly more economical deisal. At under twenty milesper gallon and even less when towing the fuel consumption is abit on the steep side, but the luxurious interior, electric seats, leather interior, and of course the all important cup holders make up for it. Off road the merc is an average contender, up with the lies of mitsubishi and susuki, nut not quite as good as the jeep, but once you get on the hard tarmac you realise that, for a 4x4 the merc would make an excellent saloon. With brilliant cruise control, excellent handling, superb acceleration and a top speed that can easily out do the best jeep or Disco, lets face it, the only off road your average 4x4 driver will do is driving onto a laybye, so on road performancr is important, and even with my slightly smaller engine, i find it impecable. So don't go for the americam jeep, with its box like design, or the pricey rangerover, that you wouldn't want to drive for fear of scratching it, get a merc.
