When I was looking to get a new car recently, I set several criteria. It had to be fun, powerful, look good and have some semblance of practicality. The last criteria meant that all "normal" convertibles got immediately discounted as they are a nightmare during the long English winter. So I ended up with the choice between the SLK 230K and the Audi TT 250 Coupe. I can't tell you how glad I am to have gone with the Mercedes. Overall the Audi won in the fun stakes, it is so nippy and the four wheel drive is a real boon. But for every day driving it just can't compete with the Merc. My mum owns this car and I have to say that she is very lucky indeed to own this car in particular. No it may not be the fastest sports car on the road or the most exciting. It is testiment to the handling and safeness of this car that my mum, not the best driver ( Sorry Mum ), drives it very fast. It just sits on the road and refuses to budge. The engine is responsive and has loads of low down torque thanks to the supercharger. The interior is swish and the seats hug your body and you feel reassured. Now the best thing about the car is the roof, what a feat of engineering, in about 45 seconds the car transforms from a smart looking coupe into a sexy looking convertable, ...
