Mercedes-Benz C 200K Classic: ... was fortunate enough to be supplied with a 2001 model C200 Kompressor for two weeks of business travelling in the UK. This was a standard car with automatic transmission. Well, looks are very subjective. The rump has been smartened up to mimic the more expensive models, but the front still looks a little 'chubby'. This is one of those cars that has to have metallic paint if it isn't to look like a ba...

kfingleton Mercedes-Benz E 240 Elegance
... may have noticed that Mercedes has been ‘jazzing’ up its image in recent times, firstly with the exquisite S-Class and the stylish C-Class and Sport Coupe. Well one car that hasn’t caught up with the Merc revolution is the machine that is reviewed here. Mercedes may have beaten BMW’s 7 and 3 Series hands down but it is a few miles back down the road with it’s M and E Class cars. That’s not to say that the E isn’t a good car, because it is a superb car. The problem is that the BMW 5 Series is so much better in every way. It is better looking, better handling, more enjoyable to drive, better equipment et cetera. The Audi A6 ...

timdouglas Mercedes-Benz Clk 320 Elegance
... a budget of about £500 a month on a fully-maintained leased car, most manufacturers couldn't give me anything to approach the value of a Merc. I toyed briefly with the idea of a very old Aston Martin, but let's be real! This was my opportunity and, with the C- and E-classes so boring and offering relatively little in terms of excitement, I settled on a CLK 320. I used the Virgin Cars website to 'build' my ideal model from scratch, just to get an idea. The array of optional extras was mind-boggling. I chose metallic paint and full leather interior; heated electric seats with four-position memory, wood/leather steering wheel; electric folding win...

mfowlis Mercedes-Benz E 240 Avantgarde
... Avantgard model comes with one or two nice additions to the Classic equipment spec. Sports suspension and sporty 5-hole alloys, plus blue tinted glass and darkened rear lights along with the revised front grille all give it more presence on the road. The problem is - it isn't a sports car and doesn't handle anything like one. This is a comfy armchair with go-faster stripes and despite a good performance from the 2.6 V6 engine (Why is it called an E240 and not an E260 then?) it won't break any speed records. True enough it is very comforable at speed and for autobahn cruising. I found everything about it tends to encourage a more relaxed sytle of dr...
